The Let’s Start Talking Ministries Pathways program helps North American Christians to share their faith and work in a mission setting at one of the LST mission sites abroad. It is primarily targeted toward college graduates but is also open to anyone with the desire to serve for 1 year at a mission site. Usually, an LST worker joins a team for 2-6 weeks at one of the international mission sites, where many people who want to improve their conversational English register to read stories from the Gospel of Luke. These reading sessions often lead to life-changing conversations about Christ, and plant seeds of meaningful change in people’s lives.

Pathways is a unique opportunity for Christians who want to serve in meaningful ways abroad and provides hard working interns for the local leadership at mission churches. Pathways interns serve as more long-term LST workers, liaisons for short-term mission project teams, and help with local humanitarian ministries on-site. It is a great way of serving in a more robust respect than a short-term mission trip, but without the multi-year commitment of a traditional long-term missionary. As the name suggests, Pathways provides each of its interns with ways to serve in their own unique ways and helps them to work toward their long-term life goals, whether that is to be a missionary internationally or be more missional at home.

My Pathways internship will most likely be in Athens, Greece, which is where I spent 6 weeks this past summer on a short-term LST mission. To get there, I will need lots of support from friends and family. I will need to apply for a Greek Visa, make sure my passport is up to date, and, of course, fundraise. The general amount that Pathways intern needs is $30,000. This cost covers: travel, health and international insurance, Visa application, lodging, food, and other miscellaneous fees.
